Immigration Tips

Documents

Foreign nationals, including green card holders, should always carry identification and proof of permission to be in the US. The following documents should be carried on your person or should be easily accessible:

  1. Green card – for permanent residents
  2. I-94, Record of Admission for nonimmigrant or temporary visa holders
  3. Approval Notices for immigration applications
  4. Passport

It would be wise to make extra copies of the above documents and keep them in a safe place.

Filing Fees

Most immigration forms require the applicant to pay a filing fee. Applications that contain an incorrect filing fee are rejected.

Passport

Maintain a valid, unexpired passport at all times when you are in the US. In most cases, you may renew your passport at the embassy of your home country located within the US.

PLEASE NOTE: Immigration law and regulations change frequently. In order to protect yourself, you should make sure that you understand the laws and how they apply to you. If you have questions about your status, you should consult an expert.
